Jukka Eklund from Nokia has
announced a "
MeeGo 1.2 Developer Edition for N900".
This is an announcement of a project, not yet something downloadable for end users.
This seems to be somewhat separate to the existing
MeeGo N900 hardware adaptation effort
The target is meanly hackers to upgrade MeeGo a flash on the Nokia N900, which will not be used to develop applications, but first, make the system more responsive, stable ...
Use cases asked for this version are:
Phone calls:
* Make calls Voice (enter the number directly, open from contacts, open call history)
* Receive calls
* A default ringtone
* Volume control (operates via the GUI.)
SMS:
* Send SMS number (entered by hand and from the contact list)
* Receive SMS.
Using the browser on WLAN / Wifi:
* Able to connect to the WLAN AP (with security, etc.)
* Opening a modern complex website (gmail.com, for example)
Interesting project but i was hoping to do this a year ago and just give us a solid stable and fluid N9/N950 (or whatever it will be named if it'll come out some day) by now...
