[Leaks] N9 (N950) PR1.2 upcoming update Screenshots !

As stated here, PR 1.2 is more about new features (more than fixes) and here we go with some leaks at what we should get ;)

Added a button to manage applications

The buttons have a new style

On display there is a new option settings Colour Profile

Settings Gallery has a new option for face recognition

 menu to display an image color change and has a new option "Insert face"

video recording interface has added an icon to turn on/off the LED flash

The camera interface now has separates flash options

[MeeGo Harmattan] Shazam and LinkedIn are coming to your N9 !?

Oh yeah it seems, that at least, there's still some interest to port Shazam and LinkedIn to the MeeGo Harmattan powered N9 if we look closely at the elisa PDF file (or the 3rd page of the front page) as this is their best selling device (for October at least)

Nokia N9: First Press Shots !?

According to pocketnow.com This is the Nokia N9, set to be announced tomorrow at CommunicAsia 2011 in Singapore, and as is quite obvious, it is not the QWERTY slider that we were expecting. Rather, this is a slim MeeGo-powered candybar set to ship in pink, blue, and black, although the exact specifications remain elusive. Obviously the identity of the slider in that leaked teaser video is now up in the air, although we suspect it will end up as the N950. Developing...

Nokia’s N9 (N950) meeGo smartphone hits the FCC !?

Leaked pictures of Nokia’s N9 meeGo-powered smartphone have been floating around the Internets for over a year, but today it looks like the device may be a bit closer to being a reality. The N9, also known as the RM-680, won FCC approval today, signaling that Nokia is planning to release the device in the near future.

FCC documents reveal that the N9 will feature broad GSM and WCDMA support, including support for GSM bands 850, 1900, 1800 and 1900, and WCDMA bands I, II, IV, V and VIII. That makes the device a good fit for either T-Mobile or AT&T in the United States. FCC test reports also confirm WiFi and Bluetooth support.

Unfortunately, external and internal FCC photos of the N9 will remain confidential until June. We do get a look at the N9’s underside, however, thanks to the label pic, above. Those of you that have already seen Engadget’s leaked pics of the N9 will recognize the distinctive shape of the N9’s underside as shown in the label pic.

Nokia hasn’t announced its plans for releasing the N9, nor do we have any pricing info. However, the FCC confidentiality of the N9 expires on June 24, 2011, suggesting that we may see the device before then. Fingers crossed !

Top predictions for mobile in 2011 !

Usually i don't write about such things, but hey, 2010 was an exciting year for mobile technology, and i'm sure, as many of you, dear readers, that the next 12 months are sure to bring even more advancements, services, gadgets and nice products, thanks to the constant agressive war between phone and OS manufacturers that push things further and further. Indeed, here’s what I’m expecting, and even hoping, to see from the mobile technology space this year.

Nokia : 

- I guess Nokia’s smartphone market share will stabilize between 38 - 40% as cheaper Android phones will flood the market by the second half of the year, from Samsung mainly.

- The company will continue to tout MeeGo, which will become available in the form of 4 devices in 2011, (3 handsets and 1 tablet).

- Symbian will be stronger, 2011 will be the year of the "half-way" come back (the user experience will be improved a lot).

- It'll be probably insane but i expect to see Windows Phone 7 on a Nokia device later this year, but, as a short-term trial strategy for both parties.

- OVI services will be improved a lot :

* I expect to see some OVI Movie service with high def content Dolby Digital Plus powered.

* OVI Store will do fine, i hope we'll see some UI overhaul as well.


Android OS Improvements :

- Android phones will come closer to rivaling the user experience of Apple iOS devices. Until that, i'll get an Android device.


Tablets :

- 2011 would be the year of the tablet : BlackBerry, Motorola, HP, more from Samsung and at least one model from Nokia.


Others :

- The companies that make the image sensors in smartphones are also introducing models that support 1080p video, which means full HD on a mobile phone by the end of the year (from SonyEricsson and Nokia)

- Flash is going to be less adopted mobile technology by the end of the year but not dead.

- Location based services will be expanded.
